What the diagnostic visit covers

  • A technician comes to your home at the scheduled time.
  • They listen to what your AC is doing and inspect the relevant system behaviour.
  • They explain what they found and what the repair would cost before any work starts.

Parts and repair labor are quoted separately, after the diagnosis, and only carried out with your approval.

The weekday $79 waiver

The weekday $79 diagnostic fee is not charged when the final service amount is above $300.

So on a weekday 8 AM–7 PM visit, a repair that comes to more than $300 in total means the $79 diagnostic fee is not charged on top. Smaller repairs, and visits where you decide not to go ahead, are the diagnostic fee only.

Why we don’t quote the repair before the diagnosis

An air conditioner that blows warm air might need a filter, a capacitor, a refrigerant leak found and sealed, or a compressor. Those repairs are hours apart in labor and far apart in parts cost. A price given over the phone would either be a guess that changes at your door, or a number padded to cover every possibility. Neither is fair to you.

The diagnostic visit exists so the technician can find the actual cause first. Then you get one clear price for one specific repair.

Our “price before repair” commitment

Your technician explains the diagnosis and the repair price before repair work starts. You approve it, or you don’t. There is no work-first-invoice-later, and no add-ons that appear at the end.

If a second issue turns up during the repair, the technician stops and explains that too, with its own price, before continuing.

After-hours pricing

Evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays carry higher diagnostic fees because those visits pull a technician outside normal hours. The table above shows the confirmed amounts. If your AC fails at night but you can wait until a weekday morning, booking the daytime band is the cheaper choice, and the phone is answered either way.

Pricing FAQ

Pricing questions

What does the diagnostic visit fee cover?

The technician’s trip to your home, the time spent listening to what you have noticed and inspecting how the system behaves, and a plain-language explanation of what is wrong and what the repair would cost. It does not include parts or repair labor.

When is the weekday $79 fee waived?

The weekday $79 diagnostic fee is not charged when the final service amount is above $300. In other words, if you approve a repair on a weekday visit and the final service amount comes to more than $300, the $79 is not added on top.

Why can’t you quote the repair price over the phone?

The same symptom — warm air, for example — can come from a dirty filter, a failed capacitor, a refrigerant leak or a compressor problem, and those repairs cost very different amounts. Guessing on the phone would mean guessing wrong. The technician finds the cause first, then gives you the price.

What if I decide not to repair?

You pay the diagnostic visit fee for the time band of the visit and nothing else. You keep the diagnosis and can decide later.

How is the time band decided?

By the time the technician visit is scheduled, which we confirm with you on the phone before booking. A weekday morning booking is the weekday daytime fee even if you first called at night.

Do weekend and public-holiday fees differ from weekdays?

Yes. Weekend and public-holiday visits have their own fees, listed above. For the 7 PM–11 PM weekend band: Call for the current after-hours diagnostic fee.
